When this happens, special programs become available that allow professional athletes to play in the U.S. temporarily, or permanently

  • Still able to actively compete (at any level) and 

  • Are, or were, hired by a Major League team in the United states, or

  • Have represented their country as part of a national team at an internationally sanctioned sporting event that follows applicable competition rules.
